Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 4:27AM Trailer and New Clips for the Indie Flick, 'Gigantic'
The independent coming-of-age dramedy Gigantic seems to play two things against each other. It's a leading role for Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood), who we often think of in supporting roles becuase of his more quiet, subdued demeanor. And against that, Gigantic has brought in guaranteed scene stealers Zooey Deschanel, Ed Asner, and John Goodman.

Goodman, of course, is one of the best scene stealers in the movies, almost always a step ahead of everything. And Asner, of course, has won more Emmy Awards than any other actor. So how can it work? Won't the three dominant personalities win the tug of war with the less experienced and less imposing Dano? You know, honestly, that doesn't look like the case here. We've got the trailer and two new clips from the film, and while Dano is still shades of himself, he seems to have everything under control despite the talent around him.
In the film, he plays (naturally) the least successful of three brothers, working at a high-end mattress store when his life is turned upside down by a customer (Zooey) who falls asleep while trying out the beds.

After spending much of 2008 on the festival circuit, Gigantic debuts in New York on April 3rd, in Los Angeles on April 17th, and expands after that to cities across the United States, with a UK release scheduled for April 24th.
