Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 8:02AM 'Twilight' Headed to Japan in Anime?
On the soon-to-be-released Twilight DVD, a reference is made by director Catherine Hardwicke to a
possible anime off-shoot of the film on Japanese television.

One would think the commentary was recorded prior to Hardwicke's falling out with Summit Entertainment in the weeks after the
successful launch of the film, so the idea of an anime version of the Twilight saga may have never taken flight in
Japan. We haven't heard a word about it until now, and this word, again, isn't exactly a couple days old.
According to Worst Previews, during a commentary featruring Hardwicke, Robert Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart, Pattinson comments on
his appearance during a scene in which the actor feels he looks different. "I look Asian in this scene," he says as Miley
Cyrus cringes thousands of miles away. "I do - I look like an anime character."
Hardwicke adds fuel to the fire, throwing in, "Hey, I think there's going to be an anime version of this in Japan. So you
will be an anime character."
You should always take anything said on a director and cast DVD commentary with a grain of salt, particularly if that movie is Boogie Nights, since the cast comes and goes and sounds drunk. Could it be true? I suppose to the point that there were discussions about turning the vampire love story into a animated TV series, sure. But Summit hasn't announced it officially, and that studio has been very good about promoting its golden goose.

I always saw twilight as an anime or series instead of an hour and a half to 2 hour montage of what happens in the book. anime would be great. but I don't see it coming to fruition. i dont know though. Theres money in anything twilight these days and so we may just hear about it soon.
The whole fanbase, premise, characters and story is just such a perfect anime, that I would be very surprised that this didn't become some sort of japanese media. Ultraviolet had its own anime, Darren Shan (vampires again) has its own manga adaptation. The whole setting is already well received by japanese audiences.
I would actually be more surprised if there wasn't some sort of anime/manga adaptation planned.
ugh! seriously? cant it just be a book? it was pushing it with the movie! now this!?
Ewwwwww....no way! I like Anime, and I like Twilight..... but I HATE the idea of the two coming together.....it just doesn't fit in my opinion. Besides, there are plenty of origional Vampire anime in Japan and this would just fall into one of the more stereotypical ones. Bad idea.
Interesting... twilight being transformed into an anime? That could actually be pretty cool... man, I'd like to check out the books, despite all the trashing and parodies they get :(
