A Little New 'Angels & Demons' Footage

Here's a primary reason Angels & Demons will do very well this May: They don't make a lot of movies for people in their 50s. Beginning now and going through mid-May, you could maybe sell an empty-nester born before JFK on Duplicity, State of Play, or The Soloist, but that's about it. Even then, it's doubtful they'd see all three.

Don't forget that most of those people don't go to a new movie every weekend, or all that often at all. Why? Because movies are made for people half their age. But one thing they might turn out for is Angels & Demons because of Ron Howard, Tom Hanks, and if not familiarity with the book on which the movie is based, then certainly because of familiarity with The Da Vinci Code. That's not the only audience it will get, but it's the only big summer movie that will get most of that audience. Counts the same...at least until you factor in the senior discount.

There's a new "sizzle reel" for Angels & Demons, and I only put quotes around "sizzle reel" so you know I wouldn't otherwise use that phrase. There's some footage I hadn't seen before, and some brief chats with Hanks and Howard.

Angels y Demons debuts May 15th, and I think we're looking at another $600 million internationally. There are a lot of seasoned citizens out there, after all.
