Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a new animated flick based on a children's book about a scientist who rejiggers the atmosphere to rain food. Ridiculous? Not so. Or at least, not entirely.
Perhaps you've never heard of cloud seeding, a process governments began experimenting with over 50 years ago whereby short range missiles are fired into clouds to manipulate weather patterns. Ideally, it would be used to bring relief to drought-stricken areas, although there is a belief that if done properly, cloud seeding could change storm fronts, redirecting hurricanes and tropical storms.
We haven't stepped it up to include raining comfort food just yet, but give it time.
There's a new trailer for the film, which features the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Bruce Campbell, and Mr. T. Yep.

In the book, the weather was a natural phenomenon and it got so bad that everybody had to move. They sailed away on bread!?
