Cloning Keira Knightley
Monday, March 2, 2009 at 9:11AM
Keira Knightley has joined the cast of the sci-fi thriller, Never Let Me Go, which will be directed by Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) and is set to begin production next month in England.

It's not a period piece, a subject commonly joked about when Knightley is involved, and from reading the write-up at Variety, you get the impression it might be slightly futuristic. The film is reportedly about "a trio who grew up in a boarding school with no contact or knowledge of the outside world until they discover they are clones grown for the sole purpose of organ donation."
Where would one sign up for a cloned Keira Knightley, exactly? I think that could be a profitable business.
We just reported over the weekend that Knightley's King Lear adaptation, featuring Anthony Hopkins, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Naomi Watts, was shelved, and wondered how quickly the cast would find other projects to fill that void. That may not be the case here, but it's certainly convenient timing, if nothing else.
Never Let You Go will co-star Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, who wrote the script. There's no word on a potential release date or anything, but Fox Searchlight is one of the producers, which is usually a good sign.

The movie is actually called 'Never Let Me Go', and I guess it's based on the book with the same title by Kazuo Ishiguro (which is a great book...I hope the adaptation is at least half as good)
They made this movie, they called it "The island"
Yeah, I was about to say...The Island has pretty much the same exact concept...
