"Determined" to Make the 'Arrested Development' Movie

I would think this is as official as an Arrested Development update can be. Show creator Mitch Hurwitz was answering a series of questions about his new animated series, Sit Down, Shut Up, when, inevitably, the subject switched to the big screen spin-off of the Fox show that ran for about two-and-a-half seasons.

Coming Soon reports that there was some joking around between Hurwitz and Will Arnett, who played Gob Bluth on Arrested Development and is one of the voice actors on Sit Down, Shut Up, but then Hurwitz focused on finally setting the record straight. "Here's what's going on with the movie," he began.

"Everyone goes off and has careers and that kind of thing, so it's been a little challenging to schedule everybody together, but everyone who has agreed to make this movie has agreed to make this movie, and we're going to make the movie. I haven't written it yet, so I'll be accepting pitches. We're determined to do this."

That doesn't exactly confirm last week's headline that Michael Cera is definitely aboard ("everyone who has agreed"...), but we know that they're moving forward with what they have. What's strange in this announcement is that Hurwitz admits not having written it, which was a process I think we all believed was a little further along, if for no other reason than because it is so challenging to get everybody together.

Let's just hope it happens this year.
