Monday, March 2, 2009 at 12:13AM Judd Apatow Officially Controls 'Ghostbusters 3'
If you didn't know, you know. Apatow Productions is officially steering Ghostbusters 3, meaning that the threequel will be produced by Judd, and we can presume that it might have some of his favorite actors in it, as well.

Production Weekly (through Cinema Blend) has gone ahead and listed G3 as an Apatow joint, and I guess to this point, that detail was unknown or unspecified even though everyone kind of figured it out months ago. With Dan Aykoryd's recent update, that writers Gene Stupnisky and Lee Eisenberg were going to hammer out the script this summer and the shoot would begin this fall, it's time to kind of reevaluate things based on what we know.
We know that Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis are all open to appearing in the film in some capacity. Ramis is directing. The creative combo works on The Office, and there's a fair amount of crossed paths between that show and Apatow. For example, if you're thinking about a black Ghostbuster, his name is Craig Robinson, right? I mean, who else could it be?
The three primary 'Busters will probably see some Apatow influence, too. I've been pushing Paul Rudd for this movie for months. Seth Rogen has called this an incredibly stupid idea, so he might not come on board. But I think one of the three will have to come from outside the group, which is something else Apatow has done very well over the years.
I'm sure we'll get a whole host of updates this summer when Apatow's Funny People makes its way into theaters.
