Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 6:06AM Another Unspectacular Scene from Pixar's 'Up'
Let the record show that in two of the previous four years, I had a Pixar film in my top ten, and in one of the years when that wasn't the case, Ratatouille still managed to make my top 15. So I really have no axe to grind with Up, the latest Disney Pixar flick, due in theaters at the end of May. But I sure don't think it looks terribly special.

It's not that it looks bad or anything, it's just hard to measure up to Wall-E, Ratatouille, and The Incredibles every time out. So maybe it'll be mildly entertaining like Cars, or somewhere between that and some of Pixar's landmark work. But mustering up a bunch of excitement is tough, and with each new scene from Up that Pixar releases, the less appealing it looks.
Perhaps - and there is this possibility - the 3-D is the showstopper, and Up will be a revolution in that technology. I can't imagine it being a better example of 3-D than next week's Monsters vs. Aliens, but there's a chance, I guess.
Anyway, take a look at the new scene and let me know what you think. I'm not off base here, am I?

The scenes are rather underwhelming. Maybe they're holding back on the good stuff? Perhaps Up is really a fake lead-in for Dragonball!
