Shawnee Smith Back for 'Saw VI'
Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 1:22PM
Over the past five years, the Saw franchise has generated over
$650 million in worldwide box office, and I think the total production cost for the series (not counting
advertising) is between $40 and $45 million. The point being, these are extremely successful movies and until they
stop making $100 million or more around the world, we're going to get new Saw movie every year.

So for Saw
VI, producer Mark Burg has promised a few things sure to pique the
interest of the hardcore series' hardcore fans:

"Shawnee Smith (Amanda) is in Saw VI. There are several new characters. Also, this movie is a lot more violent than the previous five. Lastly, we have traps that pit victims against each other like the opening of Saw V. Could be the best script yet!"Burg also tells the official Saw website (via FEARNet) that filming will begin in just a couple weeks in Toronto. But let's look at that quote above. Shawnee Smith is back, along with a few other new faces. Of course, if you watched Saw V, you know they're pretty much fresh out of returning characters, minus one or two exceptions. Now technically, Smith has been in every movie, but it sounds like this announcement means she'll play a bigger role, like she did in Saw II. Maybe it won't draw any new fans, but based on the slumping performance of the past couple entries, it might bring back the devotees who had passed on seeing the more recent flicks in theaters. But how in the world will it be a lot more violent? And how can that possibly mean that the script is better? This year's Saw will be released on October 23rd.

you im think they should keep making saw movies until a saw vii and then after that they should switch to a saw tv series and make it super successful and keep it running for over 20+ years oh and also they should build a saw amusement park with saw based attractions and traps, oh yea and the saw video game series lol whatever keeps this alive.
SHAWNEE SMITH IS KNOCK OUT BEAUTIFUL!
I love her work in Becker and Saw, and I'm excited to see her back (if the rumors are true!)
