Bryan Singer, he of The Usual Supsects and the first two X-Men movies, is eyeing the
upcoming Mark Wahlberg vigilante movie, The Prisoners. The script, according to Entertainment Weekly, "has been
compared to The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en," but that's probably only because everyone in Hollywood likes
to have something to compare everything to. And the better it is, the better the comparisons.

Still, it is definitely shaping up to be a big project, with Wahlberg in the role of a father who goes all Chuck Bronson on
some bad guys after they kidnap his daughter. It's essentially a Southie version of Taken, near as we can tell, but
that doesn't mean it's going to be bad, just familiar.
Newcomer Aaron Guzikowski wrote the script, and Singer confirmed to EW that it's something he's considering for his
next movie. "I don't know yet. But I'm definitely intrigued," he said. "It's a great script. And I'd love to work with Mark."
If the screenplay is as good as everyone says it is, then this might be a great second step in Singer's road to
Superman recovery. I thought Valkyrie was a great-looking and mostly effective thriller, the kind of stuff I
prefer him making. So he'd be a good candidate for The Prisoners.
