If you think we should pump the brakes on comic book movies, you're not in the same car as
Marvel. The comic titan is looking to explore some of its lesser-known names by assembling a cadre of writers to
tackle the projects.

Variety remembers when Disney started doing the same thing about 20 years ago, pairing writers with
executives to babysit projects and develop them over time. The titles currently under discussion include Black
Panther, Cable, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk, and Vision.
Marvel will reportedly invite up to five writers per year to work on various projects, and with thousands of
available characters at their disposal, there shouldn't be any shortage of work. Marvel's own comic writers might
be part of the mix, and with a fairly aggressive $100,000 annual salary apparently available for the writers,
that's not a bad day job.
