Summit hearts vampires, and well it should. The baby studio could at the very least afford new letterhead or a sweet mahogany table in the conference room after the bold success of Twilight. That movie's made so much money, the rest of the franchise can underwhelm and Summit will still be OK, not that such a scenario is very likely.

More vampires are on the way, too, and these bloodsuckers would never be confused for emo boys. Summit has acquired Elevator Men, which The Hollywood Reporter claims might be renamed. It's also supposed to much, much darker, a reaction to the more romanticized versions of vampires we've seen lately, really going back to Anne Rice, but more specifically Twilight and True Blood.
"This is the dark, sinister version of what really happens when you decide you're going to get close to really bad things," says writer Marc Haimes, who used to have reserved parking at DreamWorks for over a decade."That fantasy element is something I wanted to look at and play the exact opposite: the grim reality of bedding down with a monster."
It's Haimes' first script, and it's hard to say if it's anything beyond a good idea for a counterpoint, one that's especially marketable now and by the studio that shows it's in touch with teens and young adults. Of course, sometimes that's all you need to draw a crowd.
