Interrogative Poster for Scorsese's 'Shutter Island'

We are apparently getting our first look at the new movie poster for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. Rope of Silicon cites a recent reader submission as the source for this, and I have to say, it sure doesn't look like a Scorsese movie. I'm not doubting it, but it kind of looks like one of those horror movies released in January instead of the new film by one of the all-time great filmmakers.

Shutter Island stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, who play U.S. marshals investigating the disappearance of a murderess from Shutter Island, a hospital for the criminally insane off the Massachusetts coast. The film also stars Michelle Williams, Max von Sydow, Ben Kingsley, Jackie Earle Haley, Patricia Clarkson, and Emily Mortimer.

The poster is apparently scanned out of a German newspaper, which ran a story about the film's European distributor, so I don't expect this is one we'll see a lot of. You'd think they'd want to put "DiCaprio" or "Scorsese" on the poster, even if it is just a teaser.

Shutter Island will be released on October 2nd.
