Rachel McAdams Sheds Some Light on 'Sherlock'

I won't recount all of my specific questions about Guy Ritchie's in-the-
works Sherlock Holmes. Instead, I'll just say I'm not diving in head first; there are
plenty of reasons why.

I think part of the reason other people feel the same way is because very little about the
production seems to align with what we think of when we hear Sherlock Holmes. Guy Ritchie doing
a period piece? Robert Downey as Holmes? Jude Law as Watson? And they're all legitimate
questions. Because there haven't been too many answers revealed to this point, that just
intensifies the question.
So whether it's spin control or not, I don't know, but Rachel McAdams gives us a little more
information about the film in a recent Sci-Fi Wire chat.
In addition to saying her character, Irene Adler, goes undercover in men's clothes at one
point, Adams seems awed by the scope of the production and had the same set of questions a lot
of the doubters have voiced. "Well, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know and I didn't
know if it would be kind of a satire of Sherlock Holmes in some ways, or they'd really want to
boost up the comedy," she says. "It's a really nice balance of the two. It's quite serious and
quite heart-pumping, and, at the same time, there's humor in these light moments, too."

"I didn't realize how big it was until I stepped on the sets, and they were just massive. It's in true Guy Ritchie fashion, too. It's lots of fighting and explosions, but, I think, from what I've seen, obviously Robert Downey Jr. is an amazing actor and so is Jude Law. They make a wonderful duo." "I think some people are probably skeptical. Everybody has their preconceived notions about Watson in particular. Everyone's like, "Watson's supposed to be like this." Anyway, I just think Jude is a perfect Watson, oddly enough, and they're really perfect together. That's kind of the love story actually. I play supposedly Sherlock's love interest, but it's really Watson."I expect we'll get a trailer here in the first month of the summer movies, maybe alongside Terminator, since that's also a Warner Bros. movie. And then perhaps we'll have a better handle on what's going on here.

Don't know how many are acquainted with the movie Zero Effect, but's the best modern-era Holmes movie in my book. Bill Pullman as Daryl Zero, a reclusive super-detective and Ben Stiller as his disgruntled Watson. Plus it starts off with a brilliant song over the credits, E. Costello's Mystery Dance.
Murder By Decree is the best and nastiest Holmes VS Jack The Ripper picture (known in the UK as Sherlock Holmes and Saucy Jack), starring Christopher Plummer, and I will always have a great fondness for The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes, even though it emerged battered in the editing process.
