Jaw-Dropping New 'Terminator Salvation' Trailer

Another Terminator Salvation trailer has premiered over at Yahoo! Movies, and I have to say, it's excellent, just a superb two-and-a-half minutes of my day. What I find most revealing about it isn't the machines or all the special effects, but rather the way we're introduced to Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington). Essentially, we see the entire first act of his character arc in about 25 seconds. Brilliant, brilliant editing. This isn't a typical, formulaic action movie trailer. It progresses rather than just showing us a sequence of explosions. Those can be great, too, if that's all your movie is about, but this gives me hope that T4 is a serious piece of work and not just a money chasing new start for the franchise. See? This is looking more and more like what T3 ought to have been. With reports that Schwarzenegger and Hamilton play some type of role it will bridge things back to the first and second films. If that holds true then this should feel like a natural progression from where things ended in T2. What happened in T3 really seemed like a T2 ripoff with a female terminator and never moved things forward. Perhaps Salvation will make up for that and I'll ultimately add it to my T1&T2 dvd set for a true trilogy.
