Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 12:36PM DiCaprio Set to Star in 'Button Man'?
I'm hesitant to report it as fact, if only because Production Weekly has such a bad track record in the past six months, but according to that publication (via Cinema Blend), Leonardo DiCaprio will star in the adaptation of the British comic book, Button Man.

In the film, DiCaprio would play Harry Exton, a hired killer who faces off against other hitmen in an underground sport. It's Running Man meets Ecks vs. Sever, although we should hope for better returns than that combo would give us on their own. From the title, you might also think he's a hitman who ages backwards, but I don't believe that's the case. But how cool would it be if it were?
The object of the game is to kill the other killers, or if you're humane, you take a a finger. And when a killer loses three fingers, he's put out of his misery.
In the comic, Exton has a crisis of conscience but learns that getting out of the game is harder than it looks. So then, I'm assuming from not having read the comic, the hitman who doesn't want to kill anymore has to kill to stay alive. Funny who that works.
But we'll see when more confirmation comes. It's commonly believed that DreamWorks holds the rights to the project, but it's been inactive for a couple of years.
