Megan Fox Tired of Being a Sex Symbol

Poor Megan Fox. We've misunderstood her all this time. It turns out that, despite looking like that and flaunting it at seemingly every opportunity, Fox doesn't have any interest in being known for her looks anymore. No, no, she means it. Stop laughing.

"You can't be [a sex symbol] 24 hours a day," Fox told Empire. "I can't be a professional celebrity or a professional sexpot. I can't do that to myself. I just want to work and make the right choices, and study and develop as an actress."

As admirable as that is, I have a hard time buying it. Why? Well, Fox went on to tell Empire, "I don't want to be on the cover of every magazine that exists. I want to try not to do that. It's my job to show people something different," even though she posed suggestively on that very magazine's cover for the interview.

As it relates to showing people something different, Fox can next be seen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, so...uh, yeah. And then later this year, she's in Jennifer's Body, which totally isn't trying to sell her carnal sexuality, since she eats her partners.

But Fox insists people are beginning to take her more seriously. She commented on winning a recent online poll about what celebrity would be a good spring break companion, which is not exactly the same thing as asking which celebrity is most likely to cure cancer.

"I beat out Tina Fey. And that's such a victory for me!" she gushed. "People are beginning to understand that I've got a personality and a sense of humour, and it's not a poll of 14-year-old boys being asked who they would most like to sleep with..."

Sure. OK.

I say Fox should embrace it. There's time for acting when you're in your 30s. You'll never look like this again, so just continue to look like this.
