Dakota Fanning is a 'Runaway'

The upcoming musical bio-pic about the 1970s all-girl group, The Runaways, is looking to add a big name join Kristen Stewart's Joan Jett. Lil' Variety reports that Li'l Dakota Fanning is in negotiations to play the band's lead singer, Cheri Currie.

I think I know where you're headed with this: Isn't Dakota Fanning, like 11 years old? No. She's 15 now, surprise, surprise, the same age as Currie when she joined the band. For Fanning, it will be a real challenge, since there's not only singing involved but drugs and other hurdles, too.

She has proven over the years that she's a pretty versatile young actress, and at 15, I think we can all agree this role will offer her more to do than a lot of what's out there for Hollywood teens. Having Jett on board as a producer should help with the film's authenticity...so could it be that Dakota will make a believable rock star?

She won't have much time to prepare; the production will ge underway in late spring, and that will probably lean to a Sundance premiere next January. It's going to be a busy few months for Fanning, who is also in talks to play a Twilight vampire in New Moon.

The truth is that I appreciate very much this young woman, and I think it is a great actris and a great person. I Know sometimes the words of an admirer are not important, but it words have so much meanings, this words are the feelings of the fans
