Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 12:58AM Mark Wahlberg Signs Up for 'Prisoners'
Mark Wahlberg has had a busy couple of weeks. He'll
star in an action comedy with Will Ferrell called The B Team, in
which they'll play a couple of cops, and Variety now reports that
Max Payne will more or less play Max Payne again, in the kidnap thrilla
Prisoners.

The film will center on a Boston man - who we can safely assume will be
Wahlberg - who turns all vigilante after his wife and her friend are
kidnapped.
Now, if this sounds almost exactly like Taken to you, it should be
noted that such a similarity will probably help sell this film to a studio.
After all, if a Liam Neeson version of the same story could make $125
million or more, just think what Mark Wahlberg could do. That's the pitch,
anyway.
There's no director in place yet, but Wahlberg's name and his reputation with action films should make that role pretty easy to fill. At this point, because there's also no studio on board, we can't report a production date or a release date, obviously.
But does it sound to anyone else like Wahlberg is hitting a plateau?
