Scarlett Johansson Becomes a Gladiatrix

ScarJo the Barbarian? Looks that way. The Telegraph chatted up Scarlett Johansson recently, and she said she was being cast in something called The Amazon Warrior, set a couple hundred years before the birth of Christ, which as we know, immediately ended all the world's problems.

We haven't heard word one about this flick until now, and there was no casting announcement that came our way. The Telegraph article doesn't mention her co-stars or a director, and in fact, because I found the story through the gossip pages first, I didn't even believe it until I finally tracked down the source. So unless she's putting on one of England's leading papers just for the sport of it, I guess we'll assume this is real.

"I think I'm supposed to be a gladiatrix. These film guys are crazy about gladiatrixes. But do I fit into the Amazon mold? I'm a Danish/Jewish girl from New York. I've done weapons training. I've fired all kinds of guns: 9mm semi-automatics, machine guns, shotguns. I've jumped off a 60ft building. I learned to ride for The Horse Whisperer. But I've never done a full-on action role. I guess I'm still waiting for my Cirque du Soleil moment. It would be fun."

Again, you'd think there would have been some news about this before now, and there's not even a mention of this flick on IMDB anywhere, so maybe she was just having a little fun. If it's the real deal, though, brace yourself for a bodice-wearin', sword-swingin' Scarlett Johansson.
