Gossip Replaces Bale with Worthington as Batman

I can't say it's not an interesting rumor, but it's only that. The Herald Sun (via Cinema Blend) cites industry gossip - yep, that's right - as saying Sam Worthington is set to replace Christian Bale in the third Batman movie.

There's no question Worthington is going to have one of the best years of anyone on screen in 2009. He co-stars in Terminator Salvation and Avatar, and that's about all you need. He'll also going to play Perseus in Clash of the Titans next year, so while the average movie fan probably can' pick him out of a lineup just yet, that's about to change.

So it does make sense to look at Worthington - Bale's T4 co-star, oddly enough - if you're replacing Christian Bale. But why would you replace Bale unless he's just not interested in returning. We heard some noise last week that Warner Bros. has a backup plan in case Christopher Nolan doesn't return (Zack Snyder), and I think at its most believable, this story would fall into that category, too.

But there's nothing to it right now. Just more fuel on the Gotham City fire.

They better not. I will not go see it if Bale is replaced. When I think of Bruce Wayne I think of Christian Bale the same with Batman. This better only be a rumor or somebody's going to be in trouble with comic book fans worldwide. I don't care about Bale's latest freakout or anything, Christian Bale is one of the best actors of our generation and I'll be pissed the ef off if he is not Batman.

Nothing is happening so people are inventing news.

Personally, I would be delighted to see Nolan turn his back on Batman and making real films again.

Bale is one of the most superfluous characters in TDK and there are a few of those.

He's basically an extra in his own movie.

Here we go again with replacing Batman. It did not work when they replaced Keaton and Burton. It will not work if you replace Bale or Nolan. If WB wants to continue a successful Batman franchise then they need to give Bale and Nolan anything they require. Even if they berate people!!! By the way I only wish I could berate someone as well as Bale did on the Terminator set.
