Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 11:42PM Will Arnett Joins 'Jonah Hex'
Two more names have hopped aboard Jonah Hex, the adaptation of the incredibly bizarre
DC Comics western series. In addition to Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, and Megan Fox, the film will co-star
Arrested Development cast member Will Arnett and recent Best Supporting Actor nominee Michael Shannon.

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Arnett will not be playing an "inherently comic" role; he's been cast
as a Union soldier in the Civil War-era action flick who enlists Brolin's Hex. Shannon plays "the bizarre
ringleader of a brutal gladiator circus event. The character might appear in sequels."
Jonah Hex certainly as its fans in the comic book world, but it's not like he's Superman or anything. So if you're unfamiliar, as far as the first film goes, Hex is
a bounty hunter that crosses Quentin Turnbull (Malkovich), a southern plantation owner who tries to raise an army of
confederate zombies.
Yeah: Weird. On the plus side for the young men in the audience, Megan Fox plays a hooker.
The film begins production later in April in Louisiana and will be released next August. I'm keeping my eye on it
because I'm curious to see how Hollywood handles such strange material. Hopefully they let the weirdness breathe. Then again, that might be kind of unavoidable.
