Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 1:21AM Radha Mitchell Discusses 'Silent Hill' Sequel
The prevailing wisdom on video game movies is, "not yet." We haven't seen that one brilliant,
breathtaking adaptation of a video game to this point, though with as many of them in various stages of development
at the moment, the odds are good that we'll finally get the Dark Knight or X-Men 2 of the genre.

I thought the first Silent Hill had some potential in that regard - at least as much as Hitman or Max Payne - but it mostly fell short of those
expectations. And even though the movie wasn't a big success, a sequel is more than likely in the offing. We've
heard a few ideas about what that might be over the past couple of years, and Bloody Disgusting shook down original
star Radha Mitchell for some answers.
“I don’t know what’s going on with that. I think they’re kicking it around,” Mitchell said, adding that director
Cristophe Gans probably won't be in the mix this time.
“[That] is a shame because he’s a nutter but he’s so passionate about the game. I think he should do it if they do
it again."
As for herself, Mitchell sees a cameo in her future, meaning that Silent Hill 2 would be a lot like horror
genre pictures, where the cast and directors are rarely involved in the sequels. That's not terribly encouraging because, well,
Mitchell can act, and Silent Hill managed to put together a pretty enviable cast in the original for what it is.
It probably won't get us any closer to that big video game movie that shatters the glass ceiling, I'm guessing.

Silent Hill and I have a guilty pleasure relationship
Yeah, and the first movie should have embraced that more. I think a lot of people feel the same way you do.
