Tara Reid Gets Another Slice of 'American Pie'

When you really stop to think about it, the American Pie movies have etched out pretty cruel legacies for a lot of its young cast members. Over the past decade, Seann William Scott and Alyson Hannigan have probably maintained the highest profile, and Mena Suvari and Jason Biggs work pretty consistently. But Chris Klein is still stuck with being one of the worst actors of his generation, Shannon Elizabeth now plays poker on ESPN2, and there is, of course, the very sad story of Natasha Lyonne, who appears to have emerged out of a very dark period in her life. As for the walking punchline of the American Pie set, Tara Reid, man, did it not have to be that way. She could have been a real breakout star, with this movie and The Big Lebowski in close proximity. But she got pretty heavily invested in being a star, and the last decade was basically a wardrobe malfunctioning fog for her. So having apparently emerged from a rehab stint, Reid is going back to the scene of the crime, signing on for the seventh American Pie movie. That's right - seven. This will be the fourth direct-to-DVD title in the series, and WENN reports that Eugene Levy and Wayne Newton will co-star. Man, I'd be embarrassed for Tara if Wayne Newton apparently didn't need the money this badly. I mean, I know he's had tax trouble but...really? The flick will be called American Pie: The Book of Love, and we don't know a thing about the plot, but just based on the names they've attracted, they'll just reheat an old Love Boat script.

THREE AP movies have gone straight to video since the "original" trilogy? Never mind Tara Reid, WTF happened to Eugene Levy's career that he's stuck doing this swill? :(

Eugene's just cashing checks. I don't begrudge him that. He spent so many years not making good money, just because his comedy wasn't in fashion during the late 80s and most of the 90s, that if he wants to take the $50K or $100K doing these, I'm fine with it. Apparently, they sell a couple million copies each, so they're profitable.

But it's a different game for Reid, who didn't even appear in the third movie because she wanted to move on. Well...welcome back, sister.

glad she didn't appear in the 3rd movie. The lack of all the whiny, useless characters, made the third movie the best.
