All you can really hope for from Hollywood is when it grabs your favorite childhood cartoon,
comic book, movie, or whatever, tinseltown buys it dinner before it screws it. Sometimes, they're pretty good
updates, but the knee-jerk reaction is that they're always going to be awful.

Perhaps because we've seen the Scooby-Doo movies, we all probably have some deep concerns about Jonny
Quest. Geoff Boucher from The Los Angeles Times says that it's looking more and more like Zac Efron will
play the title role, meaning that the new version won't be about a teenager. But, as Boucher points out, the
project would be a lot more marketable with Efron involved.
But the High School Musical star has been rumored for this role for several months, so the news that he's
getting closer to tackling it isn't particularly shocking. However, Bourcher also says that Warner Bros. might
ditch the title and call it something...uh...I dunno what you'd call it.
Why the change? Well, if it happens, that would be because the studio is apparently afraid of audiences drawing the
same connection between the title Jonny Quest and the old cartoon. Funny how that works. But, if you can believe
it, the studio is afraid of the same thing happening here that happened last summer with Speed Racer.
Well, if that's what's bothering Warner Bros., isnt't the best solution to not do the movie at all? The title's not
going to make that big a difference. After all, just look at Paul Blart: Mall Cop. If that name didn't keep
people away, I can't see how Jonny Quest would, especially since the studio seems so keen on selling Zac
Efron instead.
