Monday, April 13, 2009 at 3:43PM 'Legend of Spyro' Hitting the Big Screen in 3-D
I don't know enough about the game The Legend of Spyro to know whether or not this is exciting news, but a Big Picture read named Cal was sure pretty hot on the subject. According to the DarkSpyro.com, there will be a Legend of Spyro movie, and judging by the post on that site and the film's IMDB page, it appears to be fairly well along in production.

The word is Spyro will be a 3-D animated film featuring the voices of Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman. See, just based on that you would've figured we would have heard something by this point. It's slated to be released next February in Turkey, according the Database, but there's no U.S. release date there or any other source that's readily available. DarkSpyro says Christmas 2009, but again, that's not supported anywhere else.
There's a full crew lined up as well, which you can read at DarkSpyro, but suffice it to say, they're mostly animation vets. The big name on that side of the camera is probably producer John Davis, who had a hand in the Eragon movie and I, Robot. Wood is listed as playing Spyro and Oldman has reportedly been cast as Ignitus.
The game was first released about ten years ago on PlayStation, with a few sequels leading up to a series reboot in 2006.

It's not a bad game, but it was definitely geared toward a younger audience.
