Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 12:50PM Would Robert Downey Return to 'Less Than Zero'?
I'm fairly convinced this would never happen, but Bret Easton Ellis wants Robert Downey, Jr. back for a Less Than Zero sequel. The author claims the book has been written, and that it will be on shelves next May.

Ellis' most recent work, The Informers was turned into one of the most ridiculed movies of the year so far, but he's certainly open to brining back the characters from his 1908s film for a another go-round. “[A second Less Than Zero movie] can either be a stunt and seem really gimmicky, or it could work out. But I think it would be of interest,” he told MTV.
“Now that I’m finally done with the book I’m thinking ‘God, what if Fox wants to do this as a film?’ Because Fox did the original and I think there’s a rights issue involved…I think it would be a great idea. We’ll see.”
Regarding Downey's character,Julian Wells, Ellis at first thought he might not live to see the sequel. Of course, I expect it would tough to sell books without the original's primary character, so he's back all right, and coping with his past addictions.
“His character in the book is sober,” Ellis explained. “Fragile, but sober.”
“It’s in present-day. You’ll find out where all the characters from the book have now ended up, for better or for worse.”

If memory serves, and it might not, but in the book the main character was named Clay. Also from my understanding the Movie version of the Informers left a lot out.
Clay was the Andrew McCarthy character. I haven't read The Informers, but I have seen it. Amber Heard has one of the greatest nude bodies in the history of cinema, and I still can't not recommend the movie strongly enough.
I never read the book, but if my memory serves- and I rather think it does, Julian DIES in the movie. So RDJ need not participate in a "Less then Zero" movie sequel...??
ummm......Although i would LOVE for this to happen.....didn't Robert Downey Jr's character Julian die in Less than Zero? lol. How would it work? He was the glue of that film!
If you actually read the book you;d know that Julian doesn't die. The sequel is on paper. The film is a totally different monster. As for the Informers movie......if you saw exactly what was written, what would be the point. You would already have know what was going to happen. Also the Informers book jumps around characters with no real plot.....try pitching that to a film company.
