Ron Paul Gets Brüno'd
Friday, April 17, 2009 at 7:24PM
Ron Paul may not have won over enough voters to be a major factor in the 2008 presidential election, but Barack Obama isn't going to be in Brüno. Yes, Paul was interviewed by the in-character Sacha Baron Cohen and had no idea what he was getting into. When he saw himself in a trailer for the film, he put the two together.

Rep. Paul told ABC radio, "We were in a studio situation, I wasn't invited into a hotel room [as it appears in the trailer]. There were lots of lights and blaze and commotion and they said we better get in this back room which had been fixed up as a bedroom."
And that's when things got really weird:

"I was expecting an interview on Austrian economics. That didn't turn out that way. By the time he (Cohen) started pulling his pants down, I was like 'What on earth is going on here?' and I ran out of the room. This interview had ended.""I don't like the way he lies his way into interviews. That to me is fraud." Being a congressman, it's highly unlikely Paul will sue Cohen, as many of his interview victims did for Borat. He wouldn't want to be caught up in a First Amendment issue. Plus, as a public figure, he's fair game for satire, anyway. Brüno will be released on July 10th.
