John Woo Promises 'Hard Boiled 2'...Someday

While the world waits for John Woo's sweeping historical film Red Cliff (...OK, the world may be overstating it a bit), the action director still has a sequel to Hard Boiled in his back pocket. And it's likely to stay there for a while.

Woo tells Empire, "I'm involved as producer. We're working on the script and I'm sure it's gonna be a very interesting movie, but it won't be ready until years from now."

In a way, that's a real shame, because I haven't liked a John Woo movie more than Hard Boiled and it's almost 20 years old now. But Woo's last Hollywood movie was Paycheck, and the director says he'd be inclined to head back to tinsletown rather than make more movies in China if he gets offered a better script.

Hard Target with Jean-Claude Van Damme in the first place, so who knows where his magic barometer is set these days.

But wouldn't you think if it was the last good movie you did and it was made in 1992 you'd jump at the chance to remake it? Isn't that what those 80s rock casino tours are all about?
