Megan Fox as Rourke's Angel in 'Passion Plays'
Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 4:59PM
Among the many Mickey Rourke projects in the works is Passion Plays, which Mitch Glazer will write and produce with the Oscar nominee in a starring role as a threadbare trumpet player in 1950s Los Angeles. He finds redemption after he saves an angel from a gangster, and that angel will apparently be Megan Fox.

Yes, the same Fox who said it's time to be taken seriously earlier this week is now getting a chance to be taken seriously. The Hollywood Reporter says that her character is an angel in a carnival, although I have no idea if that means she's a real angel or a woman born with wings - the extremely hot genetic mutant version of Lobster Boy - or if she just wears an outfit and the whole thing is a metaphor.
Glazer is best knows as a writer; his high water mark to this point would probably be Scrooged. This is his first film as a director. It's also a first for Fox, who the Reporter accurately points out has not previously appeared in a drama. She's done action, a little comedy, and she's got a zombie western and a cannibalist grrl power horror movie coming up, but not a character-driven drama.
Passion Plays will also be notable for having the most tattoos in Hollywood since the Jolie-Thornton split.
