Check Out Russell Crowe as Robin Hood

I could tell by his guest spot on Letterman the other night that the rumors about Russell Crowe not losing his Body of Lies weight for Robin Hood were garbage. In fact, Crowe looked better Friday night than he has since Gladiator. The hair was cropped short, he fit into his clothes, and he looked healthier than at any point in the past few years.

And now we see what all of his hard work is going toward. USA Today has a first look at Robin Hood, the new Ridley Scott update of the legendary tale of the prince of thieves. No tights, which is a plus:

Producer Brian Grazer told the nation's newspaper the story has a lot of modern parallels. "He's trying to create equality in a world where there are a lot of injustices. He's a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. That's a universal theme."

In case you haven't heard, Robin Hood is now a big summer movie, coming out May 14, 2010. Can it be the hit Russell Crowe's career has needed for a few years?
