Father Tries to Sell 'Slumdog' Star for $400,000

And the award for Father of the Year goes to...Rafiq Qureshi! Qureshi is the father of nine-year-old Slumdog Millionaire star Rubiana Ali , and rather than celebrate her good fortune he's trying to sell her for a fortune. News of the World reports that Qureshi is trying to escape the slums by putting a $400,000 adoption bounty on his daughter's head. Rubiana's dear old dad alleges he's received nothing from the film, a claim fought relentlessly during the build-up to the Academy Awards by director Danny Boyle and investigated to everyone's satisfaction by the British press. So what's the best option? Sell the girl to the highest bidder. A sickening thought, isn't it? I mean, if he wants to improve Rubina's quality of life, go for it. But to demand so much money so you can profit off of not having responsibility for your daughter anymore...I can't get behind that. Qureshi's brother Mouhiddin pressed the point to an undercover News of the World reporter inquiring about the adoption, insisting, "The child is special now. This is not an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child." Half a million bucks or no, I think we can all agree the girl should be adopted by somebody else. Almost anybody else.

It's easy to demonize a guy living in the slums from the comfort or your living room where you have running water and good food.

Not saying I don't feel bad for the girl. But you know what when your fighting for basic things like food you do what you have to do sometimes. Wasn't that a lot of what the actual movie was about?

but not for outrageous 400,000.......thats like millions of dollars if u live in the slums. thats so sad.
