Vanessa Hudgens is the Beauty in 'Beastly'

Not content to just be Zac Efron's cheering section, Vanessa Hudgens has been actively collecting roles in films like Sucker Punch! and this summer's Bandslam. Now she'll put a new spin on a classic. The fairy tale Beauty and the Beast has been done plenty of times before, so it does no good to knock this one just because. Beastly will feature Hudgens in the "Beauty" role, or so says Entertainment Tonight. CBS Films is putting together a modern day version of the story in which a Spencer Pratt-type douchebag ditches a date and is cursed for his actions, transforming him into...well, you get the idea. Doesn't sound like a very deep update, but it doesn't really need to be, I guess. The film will shoot this summer. Alex Pettyfer from Alex Rider: Stormbreaker is in talks to become the beast.
