Another day, another Twilight update. Summit Entertainment has moved rapidly to push
its big franchise forward, setting up the second and third films in the series in the five months since the release
of the first film.

New Moon is in production now and will be released in December and Variety reports that David Slade
will steer the ship for Eclipse, due next summer. Slade has some related experience, having directed the
vampiric 30 Days of Night and the teen-driven Hard Candy.
One of those films is at least two and maybe as many as four muches better than the other, with Hard Candy providing Ellen
Page the chance for an even better performance than her Oscar-nominated turn in Juno. I don't blame him so
much for 30 Days of Night; it's a cool concept, but probably just better suited to the page.
Summit has gone with a different director for each film: Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, and now Slade. I wonder
if they'll continue that pace for the fourth installment or whether they'll see something in Weitz' or Slade's work
to bring them back again.
