Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10:08PM Pattinson Wants To Be "Disturbing" In 'New Moon'
According to The Vancouver Sun, the Twilight sequel, New Moon, will wrap
its principal photography on May 21st. And the accelerated schedule for all the Twilight sequels even has
plans underway for Breaking Dawn, which would be the fourth film, and maybe the fifth one, as well.

Entertainment Tonight has had some on-set access to New Moon and has even dragged a couple of changes
out of director Chris Weitz. He says that while Edward (Robert Pattinson) leaves Bella in the book, he'll still
kind of be around through the miracle of movie magic.
"Because it's a movie, he'll appear as kind of an apparition, whereas in the book it's just his voice. But now we
have his voice and a kind of modulated image of him, which we're going to put through our own CG," Weitz says. And
Pattinson hints that he wants his performance to be "disturbing" this time around.
Here are a couple of behind-the-scenes features from ET on the set, with plenty of Pattinson:
New Moon will be in theaters in November.

Edward stalks Bella in Twilight, steals back the gifts he gave her and tries to commit suicide in New Moon, dismantles her truck's engine in Eclipse and, in Breaking Dawn, withholds sex, even after they're married, and offers her to Jacob (without her knowing about it) so she can have babies more safely, as her pregnancy with his child is endangering her life. Other 17-year-olds in their first relationships are not abusive and controlling as Edward Cullen is, but the fans give him a pass because he's beautiful and rich.
Pattinson should play Edward as a douchebag because that's what he is.
you're so right!!!
I don't know why everyone seems to love this carachter over the real actor, but I have to agree with you: if you put it like that he IS a douche
hmmm, accurate as these posts are... they are very one sided. Do you know WHY he does these things? He is protecting her. Sometimes what is best isn't always what is easiest... Something all people should learn, even teenagers.
First love is very controlling and consuming, if you've truly experienced it. Obviously, Stephenie Meyer's has. I know much can be left to interpretation of the reader, but what was not spoken of in the above comments is how he tried to leave her because he was not human and he himself thinks he is a douche for falling for her and putting her in harm's way. I believe women love the character so much because in a way we are seeing how he feels and understand why he does the things that he does. Kind of wishing that is how all men think in a strange way. He always seems to put her feelings above his even if it hurts him. He dismantles her engine to keep her away from Jacob. Would you want your boyfriend hanging out with another beautiful girl who has made it public that she is in love with your boyfriend? I think anyone can relate to that........honestly sounds like something from Jerry Springer or divorce Court but damn it really happens. Withholds sex because it is hurting her not because he doesn't want her. And would it be different if he was sterile (instead of planting demon seeds) and couldn't have children knowing that there was a man, who happens to be her best friend, would be willing to help her have a child of her own? He does what he does out of love. Maybe he is a douche bag....but unlike most men, I think he'd admit it.
LB and luvsdouchebags, would you be justifying Edward's behavior if he were greasy-haired, pimply, grossly overweight, human, or of average or lower income?
Luvsdouchebags, your insinuation that only people who have experienced first love can understand what Edward and Bella go through, and that EV-eryone who experiences first love acts possesive and controlling is narrowminded and simplistic.
I submit that obsessive codependency is what Edward and Bella have, not "love." True love means you trust your partner and you respect their right to be an individual. Nobody should be "unconditionally and irrevocably" in love with anyone. It all sounds pretty on the page, but in real life it's opening the door for abusive, controlling behavior--which Bella does for Edward, and later Bella turns emotionally abusive (manipulative) on Jacob.
LB, your rationalization that he's "protecting" her is no justification either. For example, how was forcing her to go to prom "protective?" She'd spent months with the wolfboys during Edward's absence with no mishap, but Edward dismantles her truck's engine--to protect her or to keep her from having friendships and associations outside of himself and his family? His pimping out Bella to Jacob WITHOUT TALKING TO HER FIRST shows a complete lack of respect for Bella and was a feeble attempt by Meyer to create some fake drama.
I stand by my original assertion. For too many fans, the fact that he's rich and beautiful and opens car doors for her seems to excuse the douchebag behavior.
ONE IT IS JUST A BOOK .... note to all who think otherwise. The characters are what Stephanie Meyer came up with not real people, it is a fictional book. However I agree with the point that Edward, a fictional character, would be considered a good role model of what women want men to be like. And another thing if the characters were real they would still be just as controlling but only because they love each other. Obviously some people think otherwise!
People it's a great story line. Don't take it so seriously. Btw Twilight rocks and the others to come will be just as good!!
