Monday, April 27, 2009 at 1:17AM Our Bad Luck: Alba Hints at 'Good Luck Chuck 2'
Three or four years ago, if you said the phrase "Jessica Alba Twitters," your friends would probably volunteer themselves to do that for her. But now, of course, we know it means something else entirely. Alba is Twittering, and it's really unfortunate news.

Latino Review first reported on the awful, awful update and in fact, it's so bad, I can't write the words myself. I'll just copy and paste her Tweet:

"I have good news Before I go, this is for the good luck chuck fans :) Just recieved word that Good luck 2 may Get the greenlight!"Ignoring her indiscriminate use of capital letters, does Alba really think there are a lot of Good Luck Chuck fans out there? But the bigger question might be why in the hell Alba herself would want to be involved in another Dane Cook movie. Baby food must be really expensive... I guess the first one made a modest profit, although a heavily promoted studio comedy that ends up shy of $40 million in the U.S. can't really be considered a successful formula. But Lionsgate has made plenty of terrible decisions in the past few years, so what's one more? Even though the genres are different, I have to bring up My Bloody Valentine for the umpteenth time this year. It was a legitimate hit for Lionsgate, one of their top three grossing movies ever that wasn't part of the Saw or Tyler Perry hit factories. But for some reason, the studio is passing up the opportunity to make that sequel but might be interested in Better Luck Chuck or whatever they'd call it? Stupid.

The film actually was a decent sized hit on the home video market- if I remember correctly it sold upwards of 1 million copies, not to mention solid rental business.
That doesn't mean the film should be made though- god the first film was horrible, and the only thing it had going for it was the whole "unlucky curse" situation. Now that that whole premise is ruined, there's absolutely nothing that'll make the new film worthwhile.
