Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 4:03PM 'Ghostbusters' Comes to Blu-ray on June 16th
Almost exactly 25 years after Ghostbusters hit theaters, Sony will release the film on Blu-ray, all part of a groundswell of popularity for the franchise. A new video game with the voices of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis will also be released this summer, and Ghostbusters 3 may begin filming later this year.

DVD Active says the Blu-ray should retail at $28.95 and it comes loaded with "Slimer Mode" picture-in-picture interactivity and an Ecto-1 Refurbishment Photo Gallery. It's a little light on the featurettes, which deal with the making of the Blu-ray and the making of the video game.
Of course, back in the 1980s, nobody thought about DVD extras and there wasn't nearly as big an industry for first look footage as there is today. However, I think they could have thrown in some TV appearances from the cast back in '84, just something to make it a little more worthwhile. Perhaps this would be a great time to tip the hat to all the Ghostbusters fan movies that have been made over the years.
But as an appetizer for more Ghostbusters to come, this is fine, I suppose. Look for the Blu-ray in stores on June 16th.

Awesome. The first GB is one of my all-time faves. I am looking forward to #3 since they have most of the original crew on board.
Thanks for sharing :)
