"I'm going to be the associate director in the White House office of public liaison. They do outreach with the American public and with different organizations. They're basically the front door of the White House. They take out all of the red tape that falls between the general public and the White House. It's similar to what I was doing on the campaign."Penn says he's been intrigued by public service since he was a kid, and this is certainly an admirable way to go about it, giving up a ton of money, but leaving himself enough of a window to return to show business by getting out while he's still a young guy who could have a future in front of the camera in four or eight years if he chooses to come back. In the meantime, kudos to Kal Penn.
