Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:31AM Gary Oldman Joins 'Iron Man 2'?
In what I believe constitutes a second for an actor playing a major role in an active comic
book series, Gary Oldman is crossing the street to Marvel. You don't typically see someone who's in a DC Comics
film pop up in a Marvel film and vice versa (James Marsden did it with X-Men and Superman Returns,
but IESB reports that Oldman has been spotted on the set of Iron Man 2.

The real question is what role he would play. And that's where it gets tricky, because even if Oldman has a small
role, the entire Marvel universe is in so connected for the Avengers arc that this could easily be a three-
picture situation.
IESB suggests that he could play Howard Stark, father of Tony Stark, which is the role Tim Robbins was believed to
be playing until last week. That was my immediate thought, as well. But even though Stark has a scene or two in Iron Man 2, he's a bigger player
down the line when the Avengers start coming together. So if that's who Oldman's playing it would give him recurring characters in both the
Batman and Iron Man franchises.
I suppose there is probably some contractual language keeping Hugh Jackman out of DC movies and Christian Bale away
from DC properties, but I wonder how far down the line those restrictions go. Oldman would have to be considered at
least the fourth most important character in the Nolanverse, so to see him pop up on a Marvel set is definitely
unexpected.

dont you mean christian bale away from marvel properties? haha.
I think you might be forgetting Halle Berry as well. She went from Storm (Marvel) to Catwoman (DC).
Halle Berry's performance on both sides of the coin was so very forgettable it didn't bear mentioning here.
