Sony Picks Up Edward Norton's Barack-umentary
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 5:20AM
Last year, Edward Norton helped assemble a documentary about Barack
Obama's campaign for the White House. That film, By the People: The Election of Barack
Obama, will air on HBO, and Sony Pictures has acquired international media rights for the
documentary, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Norton produced the film and is kind of the face of the project; Amy Rice and Alicia Sams did
most of the work on the ground. They're the directors of the ambitious project, which followed
Obama from his days as a senator announcing his bid for the highest office in the free world
all the way up to the culmination of that journey last November.
"From the start, it was very important to us to share this film with as broad an international
audience as possible, and we're really thrilled to be partnered with Sony in trying to achieve
this," Norton said in a statement.
No release dates were announced, although sooner than later would help keep it relevant.
