Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 7:16PM Action-Packed Trailer for Gerard Butler's 'Gamer'
Maybe this has some pretty good action scenes, but because we've seen death row inmates fighting for their survival and freedom on some wildly successful media phenomenon before, Gamer better raise the bar a little bit. Those movies aren't usually very good. Remember The Condemned?

There is a new wrinkle to the storyline, however: The game is so popular because viewers control the actions of the inmates playing the game. It's a combination of Running Man and a first-person shooter game. The mind manipulation thing offers a little potential, I guess, and I'm a fan of what the writing-directing combo of Neveldine and Taylor can do when their imaginations run wild.
There was a foreign language version of this trailer for Gamer about a month ago, but this one is much higher quality, and it's in English.

I think Gerard Butler needs another action hit. He's good at it, but Rocknrolla didn't make much money and it's been a couple years since 300. This is a better option than romantic comedies, right? Gamer will be released on September 4th.

Meh.
Looks Like Death Race 2
(That's because it's Death Race 2).
I saw this already at a test screening at Chandler Harkins back in early April.
I don't know if they are going to change much but it was a wierd movie. I play games and love action movies, but this just had a strange touch on it and theres even a dance/ singing scene which is just out of place for it trying to be a serious movie.
Thats the problem is that when I saw it, it was trying to be an action, a thriller, a suspense, a mystery and a comedy all in one.
It needed to pick two things it did well and stick with it.
I can tell you this movie is geared to a much smaller of a niche crowd as well and well offend many people that don't like a lot of nudity, profanity and violence. It made Terminator 2 look tame.
I don't mind R rated films at all but it got to a point where I thought to myself "really? Did they need that?" Its going to turn a lot of people off to it.
The concept driving the movie is poorly explained through the first 45 minutes of the movie leaving you frustrated and confused. It took a while before they showed the kid playing the Gerard.
Other than that, the story has a whole lot of promise and the drama and action was very good in it but we will see what they can do with editing it.
