Monday, May 11, 2009 at 5:17PM Trailer for Live-Action 'Blood: The Last Vampire'
At first, I would have preferred an anime film version of Blood: The Last Vampire. After all, the original film was anime, and though I didn't love it, I always admired the animation. But Hollywood still hasn't come to terms with the fact that audiences will pay to see animated movies intended for mature audiences.

So we have a live-action remake coming to theaters this summer, and I have to say the action looks up to snuff. Now, it doesn't help that we're told the film is from a producer of Crouching Tiger and Hero and then it looks like clips from those movies are cut into this trailer, but in the same year that we've seen Dragonball and Street Fighter, this looks a lot more legitimate, even if it's borrowing pretty liberally from some classic films.
In particular, I think South Korean model and actress Gianna Jun looks pretty authentic here as Saya, a vampire hunter par excellence. Take a look for yourself:
So what do you think? Better as a live action or should they have tried another anime film? Blood: The Last Vampire will be released in July, probably on a fairly limited basis, so keep your eyes open for local release dates, and we'll keep you posted on our end.

the first anime film was great and too short. This looks ok, and easily could be bad.
