Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 5:29PM Martin Scorsese to Direct Frank Sinatra Bio-Pic
Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Martin Scorsese will make a
long-awaited Frank Sinatra bio-pic, a film property acquired by Universal from Mandalay Pictures. The
Sinatra family has given its approval to the project, with youngest daughter Tina Sinatra serving as an
executive producer.

There probably couldn't be a better marriage of director and subject than Scorsese and Sinatra. One has made some of the most gripping and hard-hitting character studies of the past half-century and the other is one of the most legendary characters of the past half-century. Also, with Scorsese, you can pretty much be assured that the film won't gloss over some of the less savory chapters in Ol' Blue Eyes' life.
There was a time, maybe 10 years ago, when Scorsese was interested in a Dean Martin biopic, which would also be worthwhile. Hell, you could do most of the Rat Pack and it would have my interest. Back when that Dean Martin talk was bubbling up, Tom Hanks was a front-runner:

"Tom Hanks was going to do it. Nick Pileggi and I killed ourselves working on that script. I always use that phrase ‘killed’ since I'm always accused of being overly dramatic by everyone (laughing). But we really suffered making that one. You do feel as if you're in a battle, you know?"So that one never materialized, but I don't think any studio would turn down a Sinatra-Scorsese movie. But who's going to play Sinatra? Talk about tough expectations.

OMG WOWWWWW!!!
Who the hell would play Sinatra???
I mean what a role that would be!!!!
I hope and Im pretty sure it will be a dramatic telling....
But DOES ANYBODY have an idea who could even play Sinatra????
I would love to Pacino do it if he was 15-25 years younger lol and learned how to sing... he would be my choice , but as for now I have NO idea... I need to think about it...
Any ideas people? Colin?
I agree what a film that would make
wonder who would actually play Frank....
hope they include his supposed Mafia/Mob ties!
does anyone know where and when a casting call for acting parts in this movie will be held?
Sean William Scott
Yep, Stiffler
I hear it's going to be Leonardo DiCapprio. That would be a big mistake. I love his acting....but....Sinatra? I don't think so.
Harry Connick Jr. would be perfect. First of all....he can sing! He's very talented and musical. But mostly he's cocky and a little arrogant. I hope he's in contention for the role.
i disagree about Harry Connick Jr. playing the part because frank sinatra had confidence he wasn't cocky like harry or buble for that matter no offense intended. I did here the johnny depp might have the part (whom i think would be perfect), because scorsese liked his work in public enemies...and i dont think the singing will be a problem because the may just lip sink, to avoid it taking away from the movie...i also herad it is mainly going to focus on sinatras crme life, but i am unsure of that
Definitely, Harry Connick, Jr. The voice, the looks and heaps of talent.
I believe the best choice is Robert Downey Jr. (with lens)
