Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 2:44AM Trailer and Poster for Sundance Winner 'Precious'
If there was a clear winner at this year's Sundance Film Festival, it's the
movie now known as Precious. It entered the competition as Push: Based on The Novel by Sapphire and went on to claim the audience award for Best Picture, the grand jury prize in the same category, and a special jury prize for acting presented to Mo'Nique. Yes, the same Mo'Nique from Soul Plane.

We're still a few months away from its theatrical release, but the first trailer and poster for the renamed Precious have been unveiled; you can click on the picture above to see the rest of the very cool Saul Bass-inspired print, and the trailer follows.
The film is an urban drama about an obese, illiterate teenager pregnant nicknamed Precious who is trapped in a seemingly endless downward spiral. It's the first film role for Gabby Sibide, whose mother in the film is played by the aforementioned Mo'Nique. Also, be on the alert for a none-too-glamorous Mariah Carey playing a social worker. You may have to look twice.
It's a pretty powerful trailer, so take a minute to check it out:
Precious was picked up by Lionsgate, which will release the film on November 6th.

It's like Juno, only real, and sad.
That's a great pitch.
