Brief Glimpse of Motion Capture in 'Christmas Carol'

At long last, Robert Zemeckis can shout, "Eureka!"

In a brand new promo clip for A Christmas Carol, we can finally see evidence that this motion capture/performance capture technology The Big Z is such a fan of has actual merit for moviegoers. In only 19 seconds we can see that this style of animation can actually help draw viewers into a film, whereas in previous efforts, you could only hope for a day like this. The animation was at best external to the story, and now if feels right at home.

Again, it's a very short clip, featuring Jim Carrey as Scrooge, but it's enough to convince me that at long last, Zemeckis is on the right track here.

A Christmas Carol will be in theaters this November.
