Harmonious New 'District 9' Poster

Sci-fi is the rule this summer, maybe even more than in other summers. In addition to the blockbusters, which need no introduction, two less-heralded works of science fiction are headed to theaters this summer, with Duncan Jones' Moon and Neil Blomkamp's District 9.

District 9 has a distinct advantage, of course, because it has Peter Jackson behind it and it will see more theaters, but that's not to say it doesn't deserve that kind of attention on its own merits. District 9 looks like gritty sci-fi, the kind we don't see everyday. And the South African setting of this story of alien refugees adds another little dimension that isn't part of our usual sci-fi discussion.

A third poster has premiered (in support of a great trailer), so take a look:

District 9 opens on August 14th.
