Cassidy Goes from 'Harper's Island' to 'Elm Street'

The cast for the new Nightmare on Elm Street is rounding out, with the lovely Katie Cassidy joining Jackie Earle Haley's Freddy Krueger in the franchise reboot. Cassidy has appeared in some horror stuff before, like Black Christmas, which nobody saw, and the CW series Supernatural. She is currently in the CBS murder mystery Harper's Island. Shock Till You Drop reports that David Cassidy's daughter will play Kris in the film, and my guess is: Victim. And because she's really pretty, expect her to die in a particularly gruesome way. Throughout April, other casting news was revealed for Elm Street, with Rooney Mara playing the female lead, and Kyle Gallner from The Haunting in Connecticut and Thomas Dekker from The Sarah Connor Chronicles also joining the ensemble. Filming begins soon in Chicago, and Platinum Dunes has targeted an April 16th release date. Expect on-set shots before too long.
