Friday, May 1, 2009 at 9:59PM Jim Carrey: Nice 'Beaver'
A script called
The Beaver has been one of the hottest unproduced screenplays in
Hollywood, and apparently, it won't stay unproduced for long.
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that
Jim
Carrey is very interested in starring in the project, which is being compared to Being John Malkovich and
Lars and the Real Girl.

The script by
Kyle Killen was previously on Steve Carell's radar, but those plans, loose though they were, fell
apart when Jay Roach did not come aboard to direct. The Reporter says that the producers would like to shoot
the film this year, and
Jodie Foster, of all people, has apparently had discussions about directing.
So what's all the hubbub about? A man who develops what I would call an unhealthy relationship with a beaver puppet
he constantly wears and treats as his companion.
I dunno. There better be some really good puppet dialogue, because that sounds like it could be awful. But if it's
as good as the buzz suggests, it could be the sort of resurgence Jim Carrey's career really needs. And just think
of what it could do for the puppet.

My favorite Carrey movie has always been Eternal Sunshine. Let's hope this is more in line with that performance, and less in line with his Ace Ventura schtick that wore thin about 20 years ago.
Ace Ventura was 15 years ago in 1994, math genius...
Ladies and gentlemen, we are honored to have the President of Jim Carrey's fan club with us today!
EDS: The schtick to which I referred to was created and perfected on TV's In Living Color with characters like Fire Marshal Bill and Vera, a show that predated Ace by four years. Since it wasn't all that funny then either, 20 years seems about right.
I mean look EDS, I know you are upset about the steadily dwindling numbers of your Fan Club (Calling it "Somebody Stop Me" was inspired...15 years ago), but look at it this way: At least you now have plenty of time to study for your GED!
