Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 12:03AM 'Terminator Salvation' Tickets Go On Sale
If your summer resolves around the big movies, well...it shouldn't. I mean, they're just movies. Go for a walk, kiss a girl, something. But if you find yourself wrapped up in the blockbusters, you'll be happy to know that tickets for the midnight screenings of Terminator Salvation are now on sale at Fandango.

Cinema Blend picked up the scent of the pre-sale info, and it requires a little bit of clarification. The film was originally scheduled to be released on May 22nd. That's the Friday. But a couple months ago, that date was moved back a day, so now it's coming out May 21st, Thursday.
But if you order midnight screening tickets online, look for Wednesday the 20th, even though it opens on the 21st. I guess their reservation software recognizes the traditional first showing of the day - say, a 10am, 10:30am showing - as the beginning of the day, meaning a midnight screening is viewed as a late, late slot on the previous night.
This one will be interesting to track the closer we get to the release date. I know Terminator Salvation will do very well with the diehard fans but whether or not it blows up remains to be seen. Because of the dark nature of the story, it may not pack 'em in the way the more popcorn-friendly Star Trek will next weekend. It could be another huge opening weekend, but with Night at the Museum opening the same day and with other options in theaters from earlier in the month, Terminator may not have as strong a weekend as you might otherwise think.
