Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 2:41AM Female Ghostbusters? Aykroyd Likes Milano, Dushku
Hero Complex at The Los Angeles Times sat down with Dan Aykroyd to talk Ghostbusters 3. He's been the most vocal advocate for the film, which will happen with the original team and Sigourney Weaver. Rick Moranis? I've heard people interpret previous comments that "everyone" would be back to include Moranis, but he's more or less retired. Doesn't want to work. Didn't do anything for the new Bob & Doug McKenzie cartoon in Canada, didn't lend his voice to the new Ghostbusters game, so I'd say he's out of the picture.

As for the form of the third movie, it still looks like the original cast will be in it briefly, but that it's really, as Aykroyd calls it, a "passing-of-the-torch" movie to a new generation. And who might that include? Chicks. Yep, the Ghostbusters are going co-ed. Aykroyd singled out Eliza Dushku and Alyssa Milano as two of his favorites; Milano also voices a character in the game.
Your thoughts? I'm a big Dushku fan but I think Alyssa Milano is about as interesting as day-old toast. Never understood the fascination. I think she's a barely passable TV actress. So, as someone who hopes that they do a good job with Ghostbusters 3, I'm hoping they don't go that route.
Aykroyd didn't say who else might be filling the jumpsuits, so there's no talk of a Seth Rogen or a Paul Rudd or anything. He did say they're still hoping to film this winter, which would mean those casting decisions would have to happen in the next four or five months at the latest.
On top of that, the project still needs a director; Harold Ramis seems like the obvious choice, especially because he'll already be on set.

In other news, Jenny Garth and Tori Spelling are being tapped to play time travellers in the new Back to The Future re-boot...
Four words: Embrace of the Vampire
wills joking about the back to the future reboot right, RIGHT!
There are much better nude scenes out there than her vampire deal.
It's only a joke until it becomes real, Orinn.
Speaking of real, I want a movie version TV's "The Real Ghostbusters" that ran on syndicated afternoon television for a few years back in the late '80's.
They had something Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray did not...a humanized gorilla ghostbuster.
Awesome.
I have no problem with females ghostbusters but it's supposed to be a comedy right? When have either of those two ever been funny... you'd have to get jenna fischer, kirsten wiig, anna faris and ellie kemper [what about tina fey, amy poehler, rashida jones and liz cackowski]. Any combination of the above.
